View Finder is an interactive sculpture that references the history of the locale within the Great Park Site– The El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.  Evocative of trailside wayfinding signage, this piece presents a series of cones pointing in various directions towards the landscape.   As one peers into the oculus of each cone, images from the past come into focus– aerial views of the Marine Corps base, airplanes, Marines working, etc.  These images provide vignettes of the site’s past overlaid onto the park’s immediate landscape.  View Finder is an homage to the past within a contemporary framework.  This floral-like form is striking from afar, while offering a series of intimate experiences up close.
