Patterns of Inclusion

Site: Grier Pavilion, Riverside, CA

Artists: Jeanine Centuori & Russell Rock

This Public Art proposal for the Grier Pavilion in Riverside, CA shrouds columnar lights with glass that is fritted and etched.  The patterning in the designs of each light fixture is made of complied and altered cultural textile motifs.  The light columns support a photo-voltaic canopy outside the offices on the 9th floor of the City of Riverside’s Services Building.  The Grier Pavilion honors the cultural diversity of the Mexican and African American populations in Riverside.
