A series of small additions + renovations were performed on this mid-century classic house. The post and beam rhythm is maintained as the basic organizing structure. 3-Form Polycarbonate sheet material provides a transformable translucent wall to the carport and entry. The reworked stair to the 2nd level is more compact, yet houses storage for the yard. The deck on the 2nd level is extended over the new carport making an outdoor room with a spectacular view of the Verdugo Mountains. This deck is connected directly to the kitchen via a new door. Visitors arriving and ascending to the 2nd level are screened from the kitchen with another translucent panel. A new metal railing throughout the deck system gives a clean finish to the project.
